The Round Pen: Movement, Direction, Connection,
and
Ground Work: You Ride The Horse You Lead
In Jerry Tindell's new video series, titled "Jerry Tindell Talks About...", the muleman who grew up in Missouri shows viewers the basics of the round pen and ground work, both with horses and mules from his ranch in Hesperia, CA.
Tindell compares the foundation of a horse to that of a high-rise building. When gazing skyward at the building, we don't always consider the safety and reliability of its foundation, and, according to Tindell, "We often evaluate our horses in the same manner."
The "Talks About..." videos are helpful to horse owners who are developing that foundation. Whereas some instructional videos are slow-paced, Tindell presents his methods in a proactive, upbeat manner, while maintaining a soft feel with his horses and mules.
As he demonstrates a certain skill, the video cuts to clinic participants, each at a different level of understanding of Tindell's lesson. Viewers can identify with a particular participant and see them overcome their frustration to conquer the maneuver Tindell teaches. Additionally, he demonstrates how his teachings should be carried out himself in a one-on-one format with the viewer.
He brings a dynamite style designed to focus on
the basic skills horses need to fulfill the vision of a complete horse.
